There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities at the Humane Society of Manatee County and you can choose one (or ALL) that aligns with your interests, time availability, and skill level. All volunteers must be at least 14 years old to join our program. Volunteers who are under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their volunteer shifts. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to walk dogs. The parent or guardian must also complete a volunteer application and the required orientation process prior to volunteering. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to play with the cats and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their volunteer shift.
After completing the on-site orientation, volunteers will be issued a t-shirt and any necessary training for a $20 onboarding fee. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, capris, and/or appropriate-length shorts. All new volunteers will receive an HSMC Volunteer Handbook and copies of all-volunteer policies.
